Title: Dreams have no age

About the work: Taking into account the theme chosen for the festival: Dreams, I decided to base my mural on a quote by the famous Gabriel García Márquez that says: “People don’t stop pursuing their dreams because they grow old, they grow old because they stop pursuing them.”

In the mural, they are not two different people, but the same person at two moments in their life. That’s why the letters are the same but in mirror image, giving a sense of similarity and balance but in opposite colors, implying that we always undergo changes but based on who we are.

I really liked the idea that it’s never too late to try, to take action, and to rethink your life, even to pursue your dreams, although that requires a lot of honesty with ourselves and also the courage to break out of the mold imposed by others. While I was painting, a woman approached me and told me that at her age (she felt much older than I perceived her to be) she had already given up, but that she was considering returning to certain things she wanted to achieve when she was younger and that life had been denying her.

Sometimes we have dreams that seem impossible, but they are only so when we don’t even try.
