Who is ZuriK?

ZuriK is a Colombian-Spanish graffiti artist and graphic designer who has been based in Barcelona for over a decade.

She began her journey in graffiti in 2009 while studying Graphic Design at the National University of Colombia. However, her passion for the visual arts began at an early age: she painted her first oil canvas at 9 and discovered the art of lettering at 14. After making the definitive leap into public space, she has devoted herself actively and full-time to artistic creation—from large-scale murals to canvas work—combining letter structures, geometry, and human or illustrated figures.

Painting in the street is a discipline that must be carried out responsibly, being mindful of the environment and the social dynamics that surround us.

Career

Building her own path

Her distinctive style and discipline have placed her in a prominent international position at the intersection of traditional graffiti and contemporary urban art, thanks to an approach that fuses WildStyle technique, precise vector-like finishes, and the development of expressive characters.

Her career began in Colombia and gradually expanded through Ecuador, Mexico, Australia, and the United States, before she settled in Europe. Today she lives in Barcelona, from where she is building a career that includes mural interventions in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and the Netherlands. One highlight is the inclusion of one of her works in the permanent collection of the STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam—one of the world’s leading urban art museums—along with multiple collaborations with international brands on muralism, live painting, and digital media projects.

This technical evolution is fueled by constant self-taught curiosity and professional training. ZuriK complements her artistic practice by training in audiovisual creation (After Effects and Premiere), web design and programming, and is especially passionate about photography, film, and 3D puzzles—disciplines that not only serve as ways to switch off and explore personally, but also as key tools for inspiration and planning her upcoming projects.

In practice

Lessons learned

Living between two cultures and her constant travels have allowed her to connect with different realities and social dynamics, bringing diversity to a creative process that began as a technical and aesthetic pursuit and has, over the years, evolved toward the importance of the educational and transformative power of public art, delving into concepts such as identity and a sense of belonging.

Through experimentation with legibility, color, and a constant search for the “why” behind creation, she has developed a personal, coherent signature that goes beyond walls and permeates everything around her: from her work ethic to the carefully crafted audiovisual and graphic presentation of her work.

About the style

The letter grid and the message of the characters

In her work, graffiti letters go beyond mere typography to become the compositional grid that structures the entire piece. On this geometric, rhythmic framework—close to WildStyle—the shapes, backgrounds, and characters that give meaning to the mural are built.

The characters that inhabit her work act as an introspective mirror. More than simple decorative figures, they invite deep reflection on how we think about ourselves as individuals and within society.

  • The gaze and the tone: Her characters’ eyes convey strong self-determination and confidence, while steering away from the aggression often associated with street art. They don’t seek to compete with or challenge the viewer; instead, they offer a space of calm, empathy, and openness.
  • The introspective dialogue: It’s an open invitation to question how we perceive ourselves, how others see us, what our dreams and weaknesses are, and how we connect with what makes us unique, different, and at the same time, deeply the same.
