This year began with an interesting project that had a couple of months of preparation and finally came to light at the beginning of this month of April.
Warframe is a third-person action game, property of Digital Extremes, which is played individually or Multi-player in an interface with 3D graphics and whose story takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where throughout the adventure you seek to consolidate reputation, earn rewards, collect weapons , tools, pets and mods.
This week saw the launch of The Duviri Paradox, a new mission within the central story and to celebrate, Digital Extremes invited several artists to make 10 different interpretations of the iconic mask. The piece is manufactured using 3D printing and for those who want to create their own, Warframe has shared the STL files so that anyone with a 3D printer can create theirs, without forgetting to use the hashtag #warframe to share it! For personalization there was total freedom, the idea was to reflect each person’s style and following with my exploration of wooden figures in recent months, I decided to add details to the sides created with this material to add more volume to the piece; As for the concept, this was what I based it on:
My main inspiration for the design was the environment in which the game takes place, I wanted not only to paint the mask but to add three-dimensional elements to correspond to the three-dimensionality that the game handles. The predominant blue color was chosen to highlight the golden touches, and these in turn have been chosen to correspond to the metallic elements that can be found in the characters. The curved and organic shapes are not only a vital part of my own work but also give the mask fluidity, giving the feeling that it has a “life of its own” and is not just a static element, since the mask itself is a protagonist/character of its own story.
